BIOgraphyMy name is Travis Cody, I'm 38 and I was born in Dallas, TX on September 18th 1987, which makes me a Virgo. I'm 6' 1" and I weigh 180 lbs and I have hazel eyes and brown hair, which thinned out to the point that I would be looking like Dr. Phil if I didn't shave it. I also have a lot of tattoos, just none on my face or neck. I grew up in a small city 20 miles north of Dallas in Highland Village. I'm white and straight and single and I have never been married, though I do have a 9 year old daughter, who I've watched grow up through pictures because she was born 7 months after I was incarcerated back in May, 2016. I am involved in her life as much as I can be from where I am and I like nothing more than spending time each day talking to her for a few minutes. I'm a Christian and grew up in the church. I pray daily and spend time in the Bible each morning before starting my day. My primary language is English, although I do know a bit of spanish from taking it in middle and high school and working in construction setting mobile homes all over the south. I was originally arrested on 2005, as a senior in high school for a burglary I did to support my drug addiction that had just taken hold on me at the age of 18. I went to Texas State Jail for 9 months for that first crime and I immediately got my GED after being released in 2007. I have not had any college although I do take any programs offered to help me prepare of my release in 2028. I'm currently in a program called RDAP, which is a 1 year program for drug addiction. I live in a unit specifically for the program. My furthest release date is March 29, 2029, and that is with no halfway house. I am doing all I can to ensure as much halfway house as possible, up to 1 year, but more reasonably 9 months because it's rare they give people the whole year. I have been waiting to get closer to the door to put up a profile on a pen-pal site, yet long enough to allow me time to connect with someone, God willing.
I'm an artist and work best with graphite and colored pencils, which I have well over 10,000 hour invested in my craft/trade. I also have a job lined up in Dallas upon my release with a construction company called G.W. Vines because my closest, life long friend, who was released from federal prison in 2013, is now the Super Intendant at that company. All my roots, family and friends, are in the DFW metroplex, as well as the job situation. I'm also required to return to the district I was sentenced out of when I get release, a stipulation to my 3 years of probation that I have to complete after I complete this sentence, which is 140 months run consecutive to 5 years I already did in the Texas Department of Corrections in the beginning of my sentence. My crime in the state was for "delivery of a controlled substance" (meth), and my federal time is for "Conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance"(GHB). I was arrested on May 2nd, 2016 with no bail. I was more addicted to the lifestyle of easy money and nice things than I was to the drugs. I have grown up a lot in the past decade and my daughter has been and will always be my motivation for change from the person I use to be. I'm into country and Christian music as well as some alternative rock. I'm also very skilled with a tattoo gun from my years in prison, though tattooing is not something I intend to do while in this program or at this prison because I dont want to get in trouble and removed from this program, which has the potential to get me more time in the halfway house. I'm very energetic and outgoing and easy to get along with and I can talk about almost anything. I'm also empathetic and try to keep a smile on the faces of those around me.
